Argh... I’ve had a picture of this as my wallpaper on the laptop since first seeing the concept years ago. It’s only like the coolest looking bike Suzuki has released in years, after the 2017 GSXR1000/R’s and showcasing their SV650 Rally concept some years back of course. Not a hard problem to overcome, since they barely release any new products lately.

Still think it should’ve had clipons like the original 1100's yet I can forgive that , b ut now knowing the Katana’s tank size and cost, I’m so disappointed... I want to love you Suzuki, but everytime you do one good thing, you have to make up for that with other bad things as well.

WHY SUZUKI WHY!?

I like the concept. Not bad. Kinda wish for less black.

The biggest problem Suzuki has is that there’s usually a Honda and Ka wasaki dealer nearby full of better bikes.

Dunno I think it looks fine as is. Like the old model , the new one is based on a current market model, a GSX- S1000, so it really isn’t too different in terms of build philosophy from the old one.

Here the y are side to side:

Yup thats pretty much always been the case. Although I’d argue Suzuki’s were better engineered than Kawasaki’s, despite having less money, and are more interesting a product than most new Honda’s on sale.

They all all have their strong bikes and their weaker bikes, but Suzuki on the whole just doesn’t offer anything that impresses me. The GSXR line is old, their cruisers are meh, the DR is ancient. The SV and V-Strom bikes are alright I guess, but that's not enough.

nice photo. I didn’t know both were basically cosmetic overhauls of existing models. It makes economic sense for the smaller company Suzuki is.

The photo really shows how high the handlebars are on the concept. I guess I’m quibbling. Everything black makes it hard to see the details of the engine and such.

The old one now looks a little too fat in the rear and the new one a little too skinny. Something in between might be better.

I never liked the bulbous ‘aero’ styling of the Katanas they introduced in the 90's.

I wouldn’t mind an updated GS1150ES concept.

I like that. I really liked the ridiculous single oversized headlight on the GS1150. That SS reminds me more of an updated RG500.
