I got home and fired off a couple quick photos to get my bearings with the lens, and make sure all was working. Please note this isn’t my best work, and they were wirelessly transferred to my phone for a quick edit. These are at a reduced resolution and quality versus a straight out of camera file.
First photos are of penny, sleeping off a stomach ache she brought on herself (she didn’t want to poop before bed).
Shot at 300mm at F4.5.
Shot at 600mm F5.6 (using 2x teleconverter).
Shot at 600mm F8.
Then some flowers on the deck, first at 300mm F5 second at F2.8

very cool - nice pics. Light is spot on for the fluffy pup pics. I’ve started using my cheap 55-250 as my “outside” lens pretty much all the time now, the reach gets addicting ...

I was warned that I wouldn’t be able to go to a lesser version of a 300mm prime. I fear they were right.

I love long lenses at short distances. I took my son’s prom pictures using my 70-200.

I have a Pentax but I haven’t used it lately. I took these on my new Samsung phone recently .
