S I sold Lois the Durango on Facebook marketplace thinking it was going to be fruitless. I wasn’t really going to put any effort into it.

I was wrong. It sold in a half hour. So I was left without a car.

I went and looked at my first choice, a Buick Regal TourX. My intention was just to test drive it to see if I liked it.

I bought it.

2 018 Regal TourX Preferred with the sights and sounds package. $25000

Just got home from the dealer.

Let the waggoning commence! I used to own a Volvo V70 AWD, I went to look at a TourX, but it was  just way bigger than I wanted... It gladdens my heart that Oppo is buying them though ;)

Nice. Solid all rounder wish it had more performance but one should compare this to a Golf Alltrack or Outback rather than a 3 series wagon.

I wish they rode better/quieter, had better interior quality, had better visibility , and didn’t have the confused transmission.

Those were the deal breakers for us. When 2019 TourX’s have more road noise and ride worse than my 1992 Caravan, there’s something seriously wrong.

I’ve had three Saabs and a FCA, the interior quality is equal or better so not an issue for me.

I’ve had three Saabs, it rides significantly better than the Saabs.

Road noise, I’m Deaf so what noise?

I do admit the transmission does act confused sometimes but I’m sure as I keep driving it, I’ll become used to it.

Oh no. I don't like loaded cars. I prefer just above base. Hell I would have gotten a base. This one just happened to have navigation and a moonroof for the same price as a base one further north. This has just enough.

We tested a Tourx base, a preferred, and an essence. All of which were brand new.

They all felt cheap, even compared to our base model 2018 Grand Caravan. The ride was absolutely horrid, I could literally feel every crack in the road.

I really, really wanted to like the Tourx, sadly driving them left me extremely disappointed, and my standards aren’t that high. In reality, I was appalled by the ride/noise/quality in most of the new cars we test drove that day, so I’m not singling out the Tourx.

I really hope you enjoy it.

Goddamn that Skoda looks good! Sort of like it’s wearing a beautifully tailored bespoke suit.

The Dacia not so much but I'll bet it's honest and useful, give them 20 years and I’m sure they’ll get there too - I grew up across the street from the owners of the Leeds Skoda dealership back in the 80s/90s and remember when they were still rear engined weirdness.

That’s our urgent Skoda, Sandy.

The Dacia was only £10,400 (granted I found a same spec car for £9,500 but it would of been a trek with two kids to go and get it, but he’s happy with it). That’s nearly a third of the list price for mine.

He’s 6'8" tall and honestly about 4' wide+ at 60" around the stomach and says he feels comfortable driving it.

VW have owned Skoda for some nearly 30 years, yet they still have a stigma with people looking down their noses at them.
