It’s hard to make money when the dick pic well runs dry.

It’s also hard to imagine anyone more qualified to run Deadspin than a former Playboy  executive.

GMG/Gawker/GO/Whatever has had a pretty rough past few years.

I lost steam about 1/3 to 1/4 of the way in. Is it all just about how both the exec hiring process and the resulting  execs suck?

That doesn’t sound particularly unique, but I understand their position, as this new owner made all these promises that have turned out to be hollow and is passing the buck when asked about it.

So let me get this straight - The people in higher ranking positions were not able to actually make money under the previous owner , and now they are mad that they were not promoted under a new owner who’s primary goal is to actually make money?

WTF did they expect?

Close - It’s closest to the Fiat brand in the USA . They think they are quirky and cool, but really only end up costing everybody involved wayyyy more $$$ than they’re worth. A few notable examples notwithstanding, the equivalent of the Abarth line.

I was thinking about how the Chrysler group has changed hands so many times in the past 4 or so years. That whole Renault partnership in the 80s, then Daimler from 98-07, then Chrysler LLC from 07-09, then Chrysler Group LLC from 09-14, now FCA US LLC 14-pres.

lots of management changes, debatable roi

See what happens when rich, privileged men throw hissy fits?!

Kinja'd!!!

Oh the damages they can do when they get their way.  The big ball of shit rolls downhill slowly and painfully, staining what good is left.

They hate every ownership group they’ve ever had . They found some university schmuck to criticize the Deadspin survey (which undoubtedly said most people hate the political crap on the non-political sites). They have anonymous sources but provide enough information so that anyone can actually figure out who most of them are.

That said, it sounds like the new guy is an asshat. But they could have said that in half the space. Must be nice to have a platform where you can rant at your bosses and not only get paid for writing the rant, but also make your boss publish it to the world!
