Hot take, but so many of Kia/Hyundai’s cars are based on the J4/HD platform which originally debuted in 2006.

Also, police departments love them...for some reason. I can think of so many budget cars that would be better, but whatever.

The only reason they are not used in the USA is it would be considered cruel and unusual punishment

Eh, a lot of global police departments use similar cars. Lots in the UK and Europe even use things like FIAT Pandas and Astras, so the Forte wouldn’t be much different.

Heck, a lot use Accents like mine as well (in sedan form)! :P

I just looked and the only Kia on sale in the U.K. without manual or auto air con is a Kia Pi canto 1.

Could be, in total uses, uses in foriegn markets, and police use.

But the platforms show the difference in environments they were made for

RWD, V8, 212 " long , and 4000lbs

FWD, i4, 178" sedan, and 2900 lbs

I would think? I mean, they are just ‘regular cop cars’ there in the same way Crown Vics, Tauri, Explorer PPIs and whathaveyou are poli ce vehicles here.

We have them in the U.K. as they are cheap, do the job. And we don’t buy cars for our services that haven’t been tried by the user. So our officers have real world tested these cars and found them suitable for service.

I would allow it seeing as it’s unreasonable to expect myself to determine if it’s a Supercharged model or not from the rear view (I know, I now must relinquish my Oppo Gold Membership)
