Yes you read that correctly. I’ve decided to mod the Mirage with some basic and not so basic upgrades. More power is needed for me, as well as some more capable handing.

I’ve got a series of bends at the house, and with some of my wanna be engineering and a 3D printed MAF housing I’m going to be rigging up an intake and slightly modifying my intake manifold.

Soon will come some aero improvements, wider tires and lighter wheels as well as some suspension tweaks. Stay tuned!

Funny part is, the Mirage will likely see very good gains from basic mods like this.

Most economy cars aren’t tuned for performance and are extremely restricted on intake/exhaust from factory, so opening them up usually nets noticeable gains.

Ooo, looking forward to this! I like cheap basic cars, so the Mirage is on my list to replace the Accent someday if the time comes.

I dunno, I know the Mirage is comparatively crap...and yet, I really like em :P

I mean, I get along fine with the Accent with no fancy features, etc, so I would be fine with the Mirage!

Compression is 10.5:1 stock. Double up the headgasket and you’ll probably be in the [ 9- 9.5] :1 range and can now boost it!

I would think a couple pounds of boost, without an intercooler or anything would still be functional with the stock ecu? A mild horsepower (and more importantly torque)  gain in something as low in weight and horsepower would be noticeable and fun

If I were doing it I’d likely dump money into a standalone. But you could probably wire in heavier injectors and a stronger fuel pump and get it to run on the stock ECU.
