Wife’s friend stayed over for the weekend with her impressionable 8-year old son. He pointed wide-eyed at my S2000 so I took him for a quick spin - some freeway onramps and S-curves - then surprised him with an orange Hot Wheels S2000 as a memento before they left.

... wait, this was his   first Hot Wheels,   e ver ? Gotta fix that. I ran upstairs to grab a few more , hopefully setting him down the path to become yet another degenerate combing the Hot Wheels racks at the local Walmart. Last I saw of him he was making vroom vroom noises and doing donuts in the backseat of his mom’s Passat.

Keep going and next you know he’d be looking at eBay listings by the time he’s 10.

You deserve some sort of reward, or recognition. It is public service like this that will help preserve a fast dissapearing ethos that vehicles are NOT just damn appliances! It is God’s work you take part in, and we all need to get em while they are young, or else we will all be driving automatic beige mobiles that suck your soul. #Save the manuals!

Also, 8 years without a single hotwheels?! I’m not here to judge, but that is for sure a parenting fail!

sadly, his mom’s a single parent ... no dad in the picture, but  I felt at the very least that I could fulfill the role of the crazy uncle.
