Gapped the top rings at .021" with the second at .022", the stock gap was .010 for the compression. Hopefully this new gap will be enough for the mild boost that it’s going to run.

Kinja'd!!!

Hot tanked block, crank journals polished, king main and rod bearing, and new pistons with rings gapped for boost.

After rehoning, still small vertical scratchs on the wall

Marring on the Cylinder wall from broken Ringlands

From the last time the car ran many moons ago

L uckily all the bearings were withing spec so no fiddling around with bearing sizing occured. Just waiting for the headgaskets and the engine can finished and put back into the car!

Just out of curiosity, do you know what the surface finish is/is supposed to be of those cylinder bores ?

Crosshatch angle can vary depending on who you talk to, but overall it should look like this without any oil on it.

This is looking good! Those ring gaps sound good for boost. The bores look good too; that light scratching isn’t anything to worry about either for this level of engine. How did you check bearing clearances, dial bore gauge or plas tigauge? Just curious.

After getting some advice from an engine builder neighbor, I went with plastigauge.
