It appears to be at some sort of bike shop. These things have to be worth a little more than $750, right? There has to be something catastrophic wrong here or it would have sold weeks ago. Yeah, it's in the middle of nowhere, but if it was as simple a repair as they indicate it would have been gone a long time ago...

What’s too good about it? It’s a twenty year-old non running BMW being sold as a parts bike. Price seems appropriate. Maybe offer him $500.

Sounds about right on price . Doesn’t run, bad clutch, old enough to vote in an election.

Sure, buy a bike a bike shop is selling as a mechanic’s special
. What could go wrong?

Whoops, somehow I missed "runs well" lol. Wonder what a clutch job on one of these entails.

“Needs battery”
Means it doesn’t run.

It’s probably difficult to find parts and at 50k miles, it has to be close to a major service interval. Let’s see... chain tensioner liner replacement is coming up. That requires removing the fuel tank and the head. Sounds expensive, but it might be a DIY project if you can get the parts.

Not necessarily, the battery could be weak and discharging overnight, but can still start the bike after being on a charger.

If the issue is actually the battery, they’d just put a new battery in it (it’s a $30 fix). “Needs a new battery” is bait for an idiot to buy a busted bike.

But the ad says it runs, suggesting the battery is the only issue.

This is a craigslist ad. “Needs battery” and “worn clutch” but “runs” means you might have a chance of getting it started if you put a fresh battery in it. But it’s most likely not running. Craigslisting is an art. Inexperienced Craigslisters will at best waste their time, at worst get murdered.

t earing the bike in 2. its a car clutch basicly (not joking, th e 1150s could be modded to use the clutch from a OG VW beetle)
