I haven’t touched the 02 since 7/10 because I started to go to work and a nd it was down a cylinder. I parked it and took the M3. It has been a really great period for me regarding the things I post about on oppo, but a really tough period regarding the things I don’t post about. I got home early yesterday and the munchkin was still asleep. I told my wife I was going to have a look at the 02 while I had a few minutes.
Now with a level head I did a visual inspection, all good. I gave the first plug wire a wiggle...really loose I thought, but connected. On to the next one, the same loose feel but firmly connected, same with the third. On the forth...”click!”. “MOTHERFUCKING
YES”
I said, giving the fender a light double
tap. I didn’t want to get excited before I started the car, but I knew that was it. On 7/9 I installed the front strut brace that my daughter got me for father’s day. I must have knocked that wire loose while I was in there.
After we put the baby to bed I went for a spin. Then I came home, washed it, and went out and filled up so I can drive it for the rest of the week. Then I went for another longer drive! Huzzah!

Ah, the oppo life vs personal life struggle .

Great time for cars, tough time for family and work.

That’s a great win. Same exact thing that caused a friend some trouble a few years ago. He had a 90's Chevy pickup with a 5.7 and had gone to someone I’d recommended for an oil change and “ tune-up” - probably cap/rotor, plugs. A few days later my friend calls me and says “dude my truck runs worse than before, what do you think I should do, or did your guy even do what he said...” so I said I’d stop on my way to work and have a look. I had my kids in the car so I couldn’t stay long. First thing, plug in my scan tool and BAM, misfire cylinder 4. I opened the hood, found a wire not quite right on one plug , clicked it into place and cleared the code. Truck ran perfect.
Sometimes it really is that simple.

That’s great! My other favorite thing is the face that non-car people make when their car won’t start and you hit the starter with a hammer to get it to start...They think you’re a damned wizard, haha.
It’s just the best when you finally resign yourself to “dig in”, then it’s an easier fix than you ever thought possible.
Car was like “Fuck man, I was tryin’ to tell you, but you had to go running off to work while I sit here for two weeks!
”

Cars have been about the same for this month. Personally, it’s been a bit up and down. Good news is that I’ve felt exhausted around 9:30 at night, so I’ve been getting a decent amount of sleep.

I’m just getting murdered at work and not eating enough. I’ve hopefully turned a corner there however.

Oh, the countless times we would get calls from people “my boat won’t start” and we could solve it over the phone haha.
I’m glad your 02 is happy and it’s amazing how a simple win can make you feel better.

Lol, yes. I texted m y best friend (13 Golf TDI 6/MT) yesterday and told him that I fixed it. We have been working on the Volkswagen’s a lot together lately. We’re also getting our cars tuned at the same time, and he asked about scheduling that. Then he goes, “oh great you’re back in B immer mode now...might as well schedule that tune for the fall.”

Nice dude! Such a good feeling. I had a very similar thing with my car and fixed it last week. Similarly while feeling down about life and work. Plus not having the car to help clear my head. Then interviewed at my friend’s employer (he has been trying to steel me for over a year) and they gave me a verbal offer same day. Finally got the details worked out this morning. This decision is adding to the stress, but it felt really freaking good to crush and interview like that. Big changes might be coming, which I historically need to stay in my groove.
