Yea this is loonytunes. I’d go 5k or more even for a custom paint job from the factory, but for the VIN!? The only one I even remember is the one on the 02 because it’s only 7 digits and was my tracking number throughout the shipping process.

It depends on how much you can customize it, if you’re rich enough and can get some hilarious VIN, it might be worth it. If I the kind of money where $5k was nothing, I’d have no problem spending it on a joke. Much in the same way, I’ll spend $5 on a joke now.

I have a couple in my neighborhood with 2 Lexus - a GX and an L S.

Each one has plates thar are a variation on “ M MMNMMM”. On Illinois plates, the kerning is such that it’s really pretty hard to read.

Oh and they literally live half a block down from the village police station.
