We have shorthair cats in my house and use the MERV 11 grade FilterBuy filters from Amazon because our heat pump has a weird non-standard size you can’t just walk in to a store and buy. They seem to work fine?

Im going for the cleanable option though so I'm not constantly buying replacement filters.

Electrostatic may work okay for the pet hair but they won’t do very well for smaller particulate. If possible couple an electrostatic filter before a particulate filter? I also have doubts about a consumer level electrostatic filter given that industrial filters actually use electricity to charge the plates and attract items.

We had HVAC cleaning the other day and the tech tried selling us those pretty hard, for $100. But then he told me they have to be washed, and instructions I’ve read online said to wash every few weeks and it said 20 minutes to brush and rinse.

Well...

My paper ones take 17 seconds to replace so I am sticking with those.
