I had one of those when I lived in NM. It was so terrible I went without AC for a summer while i saved up the couple of grand to install a real AC into my house.

I lived with one for a few years in Tucson, Arizona. I loved it. Super low running costs and they almost never break.  Sucked a bit right before a monsoon would hit, but then the rain cooled everything off. However, I’ve lived in the Sonoran Desert my whole life so my tolerance for heat is pretty high.

My house had both installed when I bought it. Ended up selling the evap, but now I wish I kept it.
