That’s GT3 performance for LESS THAN HALF the price.

It’s insane; way lower than I ever would have guessed.

I’m more pumped than ever. I was betting on 75k ish. I don’t care that it’s D CT only

Honestly...I’m kinda forced to agree. I’m as much of a manual snob as they come, but...$60K is just so absurdly low that I just can’t allow myself to complain anymore .

This makes me want a C7 again so badly. I feel like in a year the C7 I almost bought will be hot-hatch priced (used obv) and might be a future option once the Cayman is paid off.

A year ago I was looking at a new Cayman S and that thing was almost 70 grand with no options.
500hp LT2, DCT, mid engine, double wishbone front and back, coil overs, and more for under 60k?

I definitely think c7 prices will tank a bit. Good news got everyone but the current owners I suppose

If the base models are reliable I am in on a used one in a few years.

As a c7 owner I am mighty impressed by the c8. I like the exterior but not the button wall. It will probably make c7 prices tank. It’s ok, I bought the c7 knowing this might happen. The only thing I really wish I had atm was the lifting nos e mechanism and the coil overs instead of leaf springs.
I mean wow. If the production matches the predictions, I might switch anyway. In a few years or so.

I was fully expecting a 6 digit price tag. The Corvette gets to keep it’s title as one of the best performance bargains.

There still is a bunch of real estate on the center console. (holding out hope)

That’s unbelievable. Now it has me worried that it’ll follow the GTR trajectory:
Year 1: World Beating Cheapness!
...
Year 5: $100k.

My only reservation will be to see how the DCT holds up. Ford clearly had some struggles with theirs, so I’m curious how another manufacturer not known for them will do.

Tremec may not be known for it, but they are pretty good at making durable transmissions in general.
But my concern is similar to yours. I really really hope it is quick to respond to input.
The problem with the 8 speed and 10 speed automatic with the torque converter for me is that there is a noticeable gap between me pushing the button for a down shift and the transmission initiating that request. The shift is fast, but the lag is offputting.
If they can make it as responsive as the PDK, I will be elated.

Same here - if it can even be mentioned in the same breath as PDK, I’ll be both amazed and thrilled. Tremec does have a generally good reputation and I’m sure they know how important this is, so hopefully they (and GM) won’t biff it.

I don’t see prices tanking. Some will want the “end of an era” car, with a manual transmission. Will bring some out of the woodwork who’ve been waiting to buy their Corvette for some time.
