It’s stuff like this that makes me realize that I’m driving a computer and am screwed if something important breaks.
I often reprogram my TPMS (changing rims) and the steps are similar to above.

The thing is you’re driving a computer, you shouldn’t have to go through all this nonsense (at least on cars with an infotainment system). You should just be able to go into some menu and select “Pair fob”.

We’re talking about Ford’s Myfordtouch. I basically have to sacrifice a goat and recite an incantation for half an hour to pair a phone.

Yes, sad to say the open door + ignition on-off + locks
etc. sequenced rigmarole
is pretty standard for adding fobs and the like, and has been for some time, if not quite this many steps.

How to do it with a Mopar product:
1) Go to dealership
2) Open wallet
3) Empty wallet
4) Also empty savings account, 401k, piggy bank, and hand over first-born child
5) Receive new key
There is no other way.
