Officially with a plate and everything.
Now I currently have a “welcome to North Carolina” front plate from when I lived in North Carolina. It’s in the style of the welcome signs at the NC border. A similar plate is used on state owned vehicles in North Carolina, so when I had my Ranger and Ram 2500 it made it look like I was a state owned service truck from the front. I got away with parking on many curbs on my state owned university this way. The look grew on me,so I kept it when I got the SportWagen. But now I’m not in NC anymore, so it doesn’t really make sense. I looked for a Georgia welcome sign front plate and couldn’t find one. So I fired up Illustrator and will have this custom front plate this time next week:
Wont have ice like this in Atlanta, right?
Excited for it to come in. The logo is a registered trademark, which I think means I can’t sell them, but I feel like there might be a market for something like this. I run a front plate because my car came from the North where front plates are mandatory, and taking the bracket off would leave unsightly holes and show where the paint has faded. I think state welcome signs are kinda campy and a good filler for a non front plate state.

I feel like an “if you can read this” joke might be appropriate on a front plate.

I was there the past two weekends visiting the parents and I feel like I saw an obscene amount of E92/3 335is’s. Are there that many running around, or did I just notice them?

Honestly not that bad considering it’s one time. Yeah it sucks if you flip cars, but in NC I was paying $153 a year in taxes (for my Ram 2500 valued at $2500) and registration fees but now that my $200 GA tax is out of the way it should be just $20 a year to renew registration. I don’t need an emissions inspection, since TDI, and I don’t think GA has a safety inspection.

It’s only an emission inspection in the 13 metro counties. That’s crazy it was only 200, my M3 was 2k in 2017 and my 328i was ~700.

My assessed value was only like $7500, which considering I paid 10k for the car back in January is concerning but good for the taxes. They also don’t count the sweet TDI warranty I got . I think I paid about $200 in title and registration fees back in High School in NC when I would flip cars over the summer.

Seems like the VIN tells a lot about the actual car, given just the entered information I should be paying $800.
I’m not complaining. Looking at Reddit it seems like I got away with something here.

It looks like the system is broken and screws over people if they don't use the VIN.

It’s calculated for reals at the tax office, so they should have the vin. I think it’s just some cars are misvalued.

Ah. That'd explain it. I don't do a whole lot with PDFs. It I use Ctrl + scroll wheel. (I think that's it? Half the time I don't even think what keys I'm hitting, I just hit them).

The north is pretty nice, like Roswell, Alpharetta. Very wealthy; Avalon exemplifies that area. The local news even calls it North Fulton County. The middle is Atlanta, and Atlanta has its ups and downs. It’s expensive and there are some very bad parts. South Fulton isn’t nice. Union City seems to be home to all the subprime car dealers. Sandy Springs and Buckhead always seem to have robberies. Please be careful! I basically don’t trust the city of Atlanta.

I live in an old condo next to a neighborhood called Tuxedo Park. If that isn’t the boujeest thing ever I don’t know what is.
My job is "near top golf" as most locals have described the area as. Not a huge fan of traffic so where I am gives me a pretty consistent 15- 30 minute commute.

I moved from Roswell to South Forsyth county last year. Gained a 2 car garage and saved about $1,000/month.

Some of the areas near Atlanta are insanely expensive.
T hankfully we don’t have kids, so we can easily get out of downtown and buy some cheap land to the west of the city soon.
Ge tting exceptionally tired of being ITP

If it wasn’t for my son (his mom lives in Sandy Springs) , I’d probably move to North Forsyth or Daswonville and get a place with enough land to build a small shop. But right now it’s convenie nt to be within 5 miles of each other.

You got lucky. With newer vehicles you can get screwed, ( especially if you bought it in a nother state). I bought a vehicle in Colorado, paid an 8% sal es tax, plus 2 years of ad valorem which came out to $800 . I moved to GA. and had to pay 7% to get a tag here. I paid 17% in taxes all together. They should give you some kind of credit if you move here with a vehicle you already paid sales tax on.

The more people I talk to the more it sounds like I really did get lucky. All the more incentive to hold onto the car I have, which luckily is a car I like and perfectly suited to my life right now.

I usually see a smattering of E9X M3s when I’m in town, but I think I only saw one between both weekends. 335is’s seemed to be everywhere. I’m also not seeing as many E9X M3s as I used to, don’t think many people are DDing them anymore.
