Selling to a dealer

I listed my Beetle for sale last night and the first person to contact me this morning is a dealer. He wants to come check out my car. Anything specific to know about selling in such a situation? Photo from a car show taken by my daughter for your time:

Based on just trading-in experience; Even when I am buy a car from them, I have been laughably lowballed at first. So keep your expectations low and prepare to negotiate hard . Do your research on KBB/Edmunds/NADA values and similar listings in the area.

Usually more straight-forward selling to a dealer than a private buyer; however, in my experience they’ll lowball the hell outta you. If by some stroke of luck they give you a fair offer, it could be an easy sale.

I sold my 128i to Beepi, a now defunct company. They came out and appraised it and then made me an offer. I don’t think you really need to treat it any different than a normal buyer, apart from the fact they’re going to low ball you.

Hi, use to do this everyday.

They’re going to buy it back of MMR obviously, should be straight forward though with the process.

Accept company check or wire only, hold onto the title until either clear

Since they’re buying it solely to flip it versus actually use it for themselves , they’re going to maximize their profit by lowballing the crap out of you. That said: sometimes, a bird in hand...

I was contacted by Ford about buying our pickup. Their offer was extremely low. A week later, they contacted me again and, once more , the offer was extremely low. I am not even sure why they contacted m e the second time. It was just a waste of time.

Shortly after that, we went to the Subaru dealer, and they offered us considerably more as a trade-in. Now, I understand that the trade-in offer is just part of the overall deal, but the entire deal, including the discount, seems very fair.

I guess I hope since they contacted me and are coming out to me they understand that I want a decent offer. I have a low number in mind so we shall see.

This dealer is not small but is a used car dealer that appears to do this quite a bit.

Tell them it includes the Trucoat. They apply it at the factory. You will have to go talk to your manager about getting some money knocked off.
