Could fail over time?

If they discovered it that means one failed in the factory

Spot-welding is fun I used to get it wrong all the time...looks welded...is actually holding together by the power of suggestion

At least they recognized there was an issue  this time. Older WRXs were known for cracking firewall welds. I had it happen to mine. They start making a loud creaking sound when the clutch is pressed. After welding it back together I installed a Grimspeed master cylinder brace to keep it from happening again. Pulling out the entire dash was a real PITA.

70% of Subaru cars can expect a recall within 2 years. Their goal is 10%. As soon as my lease is up, I am done with Subaru. We had 11 as a family since my mom’s first 2003 Forester. We are not who they wanted to lose as a customer - 8 out of 11 were brand new. But I am sure they will offset the loss of sales from me with a bunch of “outdoor enthusiast” with a “passion” for the Crosstrek and soy lattes and those cool instagram shots of sunrises in the mist, with a blanket on...
