When you’ve just had your leg cut open and your throwing up anything you try to eat and drink because of the surgery drugs?

Kinja'd!!!

No? Just me I guess.

also interesting; I’ve gotten well wishes from distant relatives, land cruiser people and OPPO people as well as people from work I don’t work with often, and random people in the neighborhood and church groups, etc. However, no one from my direct work group of 6 people , only one of 4 siblings and even though she called last night to wish me luck the primary purpose of my moms call at 1030 was to check to see if id found a plumber for her.

Not complaining, not looking for sympathy...Just making a new mental list of most excellent people.

In fact I do know that feeling. It sucks.

What I didn’t know is that you had surgery. You okay? You must be okay. I’m going to assume you’re okay.

Get better fast.

Nope, when I had my shoulder surgery it was just pain, and sleep deprivation from having to wake up all the time to take pain killers.

Hope you heal up fast, and remember, you’re supposed to lift with your spine, not your legs.

Same thing happened to my dad after knee replacement surgery. He barfed for 12 hours until they stopped giving him a particular pain medication. Cleared up pretty quick after that.

Get well soon and get back on the trails!

They gave me a type of morphine during the surgery and I’m pretty sure thats whats done it, coupled with the shutdown of my digesty bits as is common. Im starting to do better but im still nauseous a little.

Take it easy for a few weeks longer than they tell you. Push push push har d during rehab!

And fi nd some stretchy waist maxi skirts. You will thank me later :) Much easier to wear than pants or shorts after knee/leg surgery . I’ve had both of my knees reassembled and my god was it a game changer . Thanks grandma!

My oldest had surgery when he was about three, and he barfed like a champ, all over the grocery store . We think it was the codeine, so we’ve said ever since that we think he’s allergic to it.

Are they giving you bionic replacements? Cause it looks like with these you’d be an awesome soccer player.

Narcotics are 100% linked to nausea. I haven’t taken any of mine they sent me home with. Kinda sucks, but I’d rather eat and be in pain than the other way around.

I’ve never had surgery, so I can’t comment on the pain. But I’d rather not take narcotics or opioids unless I absolutely have to. Besides, when you feel the pain, you know when you’re doing something you shouldn’t be doing.

only a small part of my decision is based on the nausea thing, the main thing is that i’ve done about half a dozen patient stories about opioi d addiction leading to OD, injury or death. pass. one story I did was about 2 teens who stopped breathing and died in their sleep from taking LESS than their prescribed doses.  Their case actually got a continuing resolution passed in the state to consider sending anyone home with pulse dosimeters to monitor patients breathing.

Ouch. Hope you’re healing up soon.

I too have had leg surgery. Recovery takes a while, but it’s all good when it’s done.
