I once owned an F-350 of that era and chassis configuration (with a shell, too) , but with the 7.3 IDI. Besides being long, the steering set up on those era of 4x4 HD trucks limited the amount of steering angle available . The turning radius of that truck was best described as, well, we’re just parking at the end of the lot by default. My later crew cab/ long bed 2002 GMC 3500 dually was vastly easier to park.

$28,270 in 1997 is roughly equivalent to $45.5 k based on inflation.

If I’m getting rust, I’m going all out.   https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/779674470/overview?aff=share_other

Not from the midwest or northeast? That’s very minimal rust for this age vehicle around here

Trucks have been beating inflation for awhile.

Oh man I just noticed the rust around the windshield...that drops it out of the NP category for me.

My 2000 Tundra AC was $30k in 2000. That is $44k in today’s money and it buys a much nicer truck with way, way more goodies as well, and that intoxicating power of the 5.7L . My salary also increased by more or less 300% since those days.

The kicker is, I still loath spending more than $30k on a car. It is like a mental barrier of what a car should cost.

Maybe it’s just more luxury trim levels and dealers not stocking base level trims anymore.
