It was delicious. The bourbons and whiskeys I’ve tried recently have gotten crazy. 1975, 1982 and 2000 Wild Turkey 101, a French Barrel pick of Blanton Gold, a couple few hundred dollar Willetts I ended up buying and the like. The tasting room at the local liquor store has become a hangout where a group of will get together once or twice a week and bring the mother load of brown fire water. It is always a great time.
Also, here is the current collection on the cart. The better stuff is under the counter/on the counter.

This was not bottle aged as much as it was bought form an old lady who was selling her late husbands stuff he had stored in the basement . It was so smooth and had an oddly enduring musk to it.

BiB so 100 proof is such a good place for a bourbon, especially since it was my first pour of the night.

Best whiskey I ever had, I drank a bottle of 23 year pappy van winkle on Christmas with a buddy of mine a few years back. Nothing I’ve ever had since has made me happy. In the following years I have stopped drinking all together. All whiskey tastes like poop after indulging in the 23 year. This is literally the only cases of A: finding something so good nothing else like it compared and B: the only time I will say spending a ridiculous amount of money on booze is worth it. Do your self a favor, find 23 year pappy and have some. Unless you value enjoying whiskey cause it will ruin all others.

The problem is I’ve had Old Rip 10 Year and did not like it that much. I’ve got 3 bottles that have won Whiskey of the Year i my collection . I can still enjoy cheaper $25 bourons for what they are even though I have a bottle of Willett that would wreck just about any Pappys. I’ve almost become hipster in my disdain for what Pappy has done to the Bourbon and Whiskey market

I see you’ve got plenty of Knob Creek there. I’m not a bourbon aficionado in that I don’t shop for or compare them regularly , but a grad student brought some of that in once, and I immediately loved it. I’d happily sip my way though several drams of that.

Knob Creek is one of my favorites for the price. All but 2 of those are at LEAST FOURTEEN year old barrel picks where my local store went and picked their favorite barrel out of 3 and that barrel is all that went into the bottle. $55 a piece for 14+ year old juice!!! The other two are barrel pick Ryes which are 6-7 years old and also very d elicious . Also all 120 Proof.

I did not know I need a whiskey cart until the whiskey shelves we bought would not fit on the wall due to lack of studs. I still was unaware I needed a whiskey cart until my wife brought it home to display my wares rather than hide them all in a cabinet. Married a winner who deals with my shenanigans

When we moved my grandma into assisted living there was a big stash of old liquor bottles in her condo that my mom thought had a bunch of value to them. Some of them got stored but us grandkids got to take some. So I have a bottle of Old Forester from the 60s or 70s with the tax seal on the cap still intact. Still waiting for the right opportunity to open it.

Too far for a dram.
About 700 miles to Nashville. I’ll be passing through West Memphis week after next, though just for a night.

Old stuff of the same recipe just seems to taste better. Old Grand Dad for sale now, it’s okay. This Old Grand Dad, fantastic. I don’t know if it’s the materials used or just the old age or what but it is really good stuff.

Also I think it was barreled in ‘49 and bottled in ‘53 so 4 years old

I once got a cheap bottle of vodka from my grandma that she didn’t finish. We believe the bottle was from 1975ish.
It tasted like rubbing alcohol, but it went down smooth. Definitely a weird experience.
