How was your commute today? I only have to commute from the kitchen to the computer, so it wasn’t that bad.

Obnoxious as always. Less than half of other drivers use their indicators, randomly get cut off, people can’t maintain speed, etc. Had some damn fool in a Venza driving beside me with nobody in front of him going between 50 and 65. Stupid assholes everywhere.

Uneventful, there’s usually not much traffic on my commute and today was no exception. My morning commute is somewhere right at 12 minutes and my afternoon one is just a little over 15. Much improved over the 45 minute each way commute I had when I was in Savannah.

Be glad you don’t live in Austin. Seriously, I found it easier to drive in LA and SF than here.

Probably best odds of survival would be that Mustang.

I commuted all the way to the beach and back barefoot and learnt on the way back that roads get pretty darn hot over here.....may have cooked me little footsies some
Think I’ll invest in sandals later

The few times I’ve visited Austin I never really had an issue with the traffic.

My wife commutes daily from Pflugerville to UT. Fortunately, there’s a new bus route that actually drops her off right in front of her building. Wifi and all. It’s pretty nice. Doesn’t make the drive any shorter, but certainly less awful. We left UT on Tuesday at 5 to head south. It took us 30 minutes to go get to 5th St. and we still hadn’t gotten on I- 35.

Heavy traffic, but no slowdowns, thankfully. Hard to come in today, even though I only have to work a half day. My home is filled with with family: my sister and her boys, one of my brothers, his wife, and one of their daughters.
Going to meet them here this afternoon:

It was a good day. I didn’t have to use my AK.
Did a quick waterless wash this morning , dropped the top, and blasted into work, gunning it a bit when I went under bridges so I could hear the active exhaust and the 5.0 ripping and roaring.
I didn’t tailgate anyone and I used my blinkers, like a good citizen .
No pedestrians were injured in today’s drive to work. Although a few may have been offended by me blasting both Sinatr a from the stereo and exhaust from the motor. Ah well....

Nice. Not what I expect to hear on somebody’s morning commute. Sinatra and Strings is my personal favorite of the Chairman’s records.

Why are there so many drivers doing exactly that in the fast lane? Besides people not using indicators or leaving their indicators on for 30+ seconds, those people are second on my shitlist.

Had an oblivious GLC behind me with its high beams on for a mile or two, until we changed paths. I hope that doesn’t portend the rest of my day. I go to work early to avoid the traffic and it is usually smooth sailing , but the afternoon drive is a gongshow combination of idiot drivers and sometimes moronic traffic controls. I’d say “first world problems”, but much of the driving talent in this area is not first world.

Ah, I don’t know that one. I’ll have to check it out. I’ve been digging into his catalog at home on Spotify and checking out the Sinatra channel on Sirius (figured why not since I’m on the trial version on the new car).

Aside from Frank himself, so many of his records featured some of the greatest composers, arrangers, and musicians of the day. Really great stuff, back when popular music was more of a craft than an industry.

I think early mustangs are overrated and usually looked at through rose colored glasses.
I say this as an observation, I’ve never owned one. And at this time and forward I won’t be able to afford one. Perhaps a little jealous that I won’t have one to try myself.

Commute was good for me but talking to a coworker coming from Illinois there was a bad accident involving some motorcycles and a bunch of debris all over. And some tarps so likely a fatality.

I have an 03 Odyssey, and I keep track of how many others I see on a given day. Usually four or five at most. I saw a TON of them when we were in SoCal recently. Must be the weather.

About once a week a bad day happens where there is actually a car in front of me at a stop sign somewhere along the way and it takes more than like five seconds to clear the intersection . Getting to work at 7:30 instead of 8:00 means I’m on campus before most other folks.

I started in Denver at 5:30 this morning and I’m now in Glenwood Springs, so my commute has been beautiful. I’m bouncing around the Western Slope for most of today and should be back when rush hour is ending.
Plus, in lots of the mountain areas it’s way cooler by about 10-20 degrees, so I'm happy.

I hear that. For better or worse, I end up getting up fairly early every day even when I don’t work. The lab/pitbull mix will happily sleep as late as you want, but t he German Shepherd has a schedule to keep.

Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of summer. It’s been ok so far but the heat is really starting now.
I’m going to be in Grand Junction soon and it will be just as bad, if not worse. Fortunately I get to head home after that.
