Bought me a new truck last night! After searching for a while and passing on at least three otherwise perfect trucks because they smelled like smoke I finally found the one! 2014 F-150 FX4 with zero options. Crew cab, 6.5' bed, 5.0 with the E-locker, just shy of 91k miles and super clean for a midwest truck . There’s a couple things I’d prefer to be a little different, (column shift vs console shift, sliding rear window, blue), but it’s all minor stuff and I love it anyway. The goal is to get at least ten years or 250,000 miles out of it before the next one. I’ve always been good with maintenance , but I’m going to really try and keep up with rust prevention on this one. This is by far the nicest thing I’ve ever owned and I want to keep it that way for as long as possible.

And not that I post about my stuff much, but for anyone keeping count, this makes pickup #4. I didn’t get rid of my ‘99, it’s going to a friend’s place for an indefinite amount of time, and I’ve still got the ‘49 and ‘50 at Dad’s place, with a goal of getting the ‘50 in my garage by winter and getting that project started.

Nice! My next vehicle is going to be a full size sedan/wagon for the MPGs and for some better driving dynamics , but I still keep looking at trucks because as much crap as they get they really are just modern land yachts . If I had the money I’d be buying a Rivian, but that’s not in the cards.

That’s basically the truck I’d buy too if I went with a Ford.

Ultimately I decided to keep my beater Cobalt for the MPGs and to keep as much winter off of the nice new truck as possible. I don’t really need a truck as a primary vehicle, but I do enough hauling of ATV’s, boats, home project stuff etc. that it’s nice to have one around. My old truck was getting old enough that I didn’t want to take it on a ton of trips, was on the small side for the new family, and I just wanted a newer one.

I hear ya. My truck is getting long in the tooth and I at least have my wife’s Yukon now for towing needs and have been thinking of getting a utility trailer so it can take over the truck stuff duties as well. While I have a Matrix for the MPGs it suddenly seems very cramped with a kid.

It’s not a super wide street so I like to get off to the side as much as I can. Plus it’s my lawn and I do what I want.

It was only there for about an hour or so, the blue truck got brought over to Dad’s for a short while until I can get it to my buddies place. The new truck is now in the driveway.

My neighbor (well, my neighbor’s friends) seem to think it’s normal to park half their truck on my lawn when the driveway fills up.

People emulate what they see. Park on your lawn and visitors to the neighborhood will do the same. My lawn slopes to the curb and water accumulates down there, making the soils soft. Parking on the lawn can (and has) left ruts I have to repair. When I see anyone parking on my lawn, I’m heading out the door to yell at them! :)

Congratulations on the truck. I really like the F-150, especially after driving a Silverado for several weeks.
