Literally, no clue where it went. I went out this morning with it, SWORE I came back with it, but it’s been missing since.

I asked both Lyft drivers I was with, nothing

Combed through Target, they didn’t find it

Flipped the airbnb upside down, nothing

Fuck.

The good news is, depending on where they send you, you’ll likely have Internet.

There is a process to get back. You have to reapply at your local dmv in person. The catch is, they won’t let you back into the country without your papers.

When I lost my wallet, it was no problem to get my NY license replaced. I could do it online and the fee was surprisingly low ($17). Of course as soon as I had given up on finding it and ordered the replacement, the Met finally got back to me and told me they had it, though by that point all the cards in it were obsolete (it did have more money in it than I thought, so that was nice).

Might be harder now in this stupid world of Real IDs ™...

You’ll be able to get on the plane, but they’ll pull you aside at the TSA checkpoint and verify your identity (run your through NCIC and/or pul l up your passport or DL info. They may ask you a few questions to verify the information they pull up).

I lost my license in Ontario (I think) on my way to Montreal. Didn’t get ID’d once anywhere, didn’t get pulled over.....that was quite lucky. Got a new one after I got home, there was really no way to get a replacement temp license sent from BC anyways.

When I rented my car this morning they stuck my license in the contract folder rather than handing it to me. I went to pay for lunch and the license wasn’t in my phone case where it should have been. Total panic moment. Thankfully I figured it out before I got back to the airport.
