Feeling Old This Morning
.
I tweaked my back this past weekend (psoas muscle) and had been walking like an octogenarian for a couple days. Yesterday I was doing much better, and my optimism got the better of me. My sister and her kids are in town, and, wanting to be the fun uncle, I picked up and tossed  my nephew and my son a few times in the pool last night. So, w alking like an old man again...

I got my reality check at the trampoline gym. A few of my snowboarding buddies wanted to go to practice tricks before the season. We went three days in a row, hucking more flips than I’ve done in my whole life in one day. I was feeling tight after the second day, after the third day I couldn’t get out of bed. That pain stuck around for almost 2 months!

Bye trampolines, it’s been fun.

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

I feel your pain, I’ve got back into hockey . About a month ago, I was absolutely leveled by a guy several inches taller than me. Of course, I laughed it off then. I couldn’t stand up stra ight for a couple weeks, and I still feel it.  I went to a chiropractor, had x-rays etc, they more or less told me to stop being a whiner.  Once you hit your 40s, you age like milk.

When I was 15 I jumped my BRAT in the field, of course bottoming the frame out on the  landing, sending me into the roof. My back hasn’t been the same since. It’s mostly fine now, but every once in a while, I feel quite old at 24 . Basically living off of prednisone for a while didn’t help that cause either.

Oof... that sucks. My little brother had a snowboarding accident in college that messed him up for a while - I’m sure he still has lingering issues.

Can’t wait. I’ll be popping A leve and Canadian market pain pills like M&Ms by then.  I know of a few older guys who still play, but I suspect they feel it too.

I was doing a wheelie last night and went full over backwards and landed on my butt. I was expecting to wake up today and not be able to get out of bed, but am actually feeling fine.

Just don’t let them see you wince. If you don’t acknowledge weakness, it doesn’t exist.

So, I’ve never in my life (not since I was like 10) been in really great physical shape. I’ve gotten closer to that goal at certain times - like when trainer to climb a 14er - but I’ve always carried around a little too much weight, due to lack of self-control and too little exercise. In these last several months, Mrs. addiction has gotten very serious with her diet and has managed to get herself into great shape. I super proud of her and plan to follow her lead in the next several months. Would love to be able to say I’m fitter than I’ve ever been in my 40s!

Half the reason i work out is so that I can continue to pick up and carry my giant 4 year old.

I’ve been putting 10 miles on my bike, not every day but more days than not, but I undo that with too much beer at night. At least I finally gave up the cigars.

I feel you. I damaged my SI j oint about 2 months ago lifting too many/ too heavy pieces of tree trunk from a fallen tree. I could not sit, stand or lay down for more than 15 mins without ag gra vating it for about 3 weeks.

Fellow idiot here... I re- aggravated  mine helping my kids and their cousins dig out a big rock from a creek bed. Once again, trying to be the fun uncle - ha!

Thankfully my 6 year old is a lightweight, but he’s only getting heavier. The other one I was tossing was a year older...

It hurts, but no regrets. Makin’ memories, man.

Haven’t ridden a bike in years... I get a walk in with the dogs most nights, but need to make those longer more often.

I had my first cigar in a long time a couple weeks back, at a social event with a coworker at a cigar bar. Enjoyed it, but probably not enough to smoke another again any time soon.

I was smoking a lot, and then a health scare caused me to give them up. I’ve had one now and again, but it’s not the same.

I have really good genes, but I wonder when that health scare will come for me. I’ve been prehypertensive for a while; definitely need to make changes to correct that before the “pre” goes away.

I’ve been on BP meds for years. If I gave up the alcohol, lost 30 pounds, and exercised regularly I could stop taking them. I keep telling myself that I’ll give up procrastinating tomorrow.
