In high school a fellow lifeguard of mine had one of this vintage with a 400/IIRC 3 speed combo. It was a restoration done by he an his Dad. It made nice noises, and it looked cool, but it wasn’t much to drive.

My recollection of the Camaro/Trans Am of that generation is heavy and underpowered. And heavy feeling .

That matches what I remember. I was impressed by the fact that my then stock 88 integra would’ve blown the doors off it from a stop light, and it wasn’t in any way a fast car in stock form. It was preposterous just going over bumps in the road, much less going around a corner.

I can’t speak to the later second gen F-bodies but my Camaro is 3300lbs. Not exactly a heavyweight. The width and long h ood give the impression of size and the old school steering doesn't help.

I would want some more detail given that this isnt the OG engine in the car. The lack of interior shots and engine bay kinda disturbs me.

From personal experience: during the brief period i had mine running, the car felt kinda.... Unremarkable? Handling wise. Drove like an 02 civic, which i suppose is a compliment to a car of this vintage. Btw all my suspension bushings were shot so YMMV.

The engine is a gem. Slow stock sure, but the torque is incredible. The pontiac 400 handles parts much better than,my olds too. It throws you back in the seat, does decent burnouts, and then immediately runs out of steam.

Really, it makes you feel like a celebrity driving it. Think comfy gt car rather than muscle car and you will be there. With some parts i think it is a solid choice, but they have their quirks. None of them is a deal breaker.

Hit me up if your serious and ill give you all the deets.

Dude: I already own -- and insure -- six vehicles. But still, if I had disposable income, I'd buy it and try it.
