I can’t believe how expensive some of these things are now, although I do remember liking a mate of mine’s ex-police car all blacked out VB with a V8.

Yup 1.9 whole lite r s producing a terrifying 78hp. Bas ically the Holden “red” I6 with 2 cylinde rs lopped off. Sa me en gine that went in 4 cyl Toranas .

Though a ccording to Wikipedia they only introduced the 4 cylinder on the VC - VB’s smallest engine was the red 6 in 2.85L form . Which apparently only produced the same power as the 4, thou gh presumably with actual torque.

So either Wikipedia’s wrong or I’m remembering wrong - I’d have sworn Dad’ s car had the VB wide- slat grille not the VC chipcutter or VH narrow-slat .

For V8 cars, at least $6500 for one that needs repairs/restoration to $25000 for o riginal low mileage V8's.

6 cyl still worth bugger all , $2500 for repairs/restoration to $ 12000

4-cyl starfire motor (aka backfire 4 or misfire 4 ) was VC/VH only in Australia but carried on into VK in NZ

also used in UC Sunbird and Toyota Corona where it was referred to as the 1X motor

Maybe it was a straight 6? I think VN was the first one to have a V6 instead of a straight 6.

Seriously? Wow, thought all the Commodores were Vs. And Falcons were not.
