Asking for myself. I’m considering getting rid of my Durango for a Tourx and I want to make sure I’m thinking rationally and who thinks rationally? Of course Oppo.
S thoughts?
My Durango for your consideration

Umm yes, but I also wouldn't be caught dead in a Durango so I guess that's an easy choice for me

How do you use your Durango? Do you tow, offroad, haul a lot in the back? If no to all of the above, then I would go tourx

Yes, the Tourx is much more awesome than a fucking Durango
It’s a wagon and you can get the panoramic
sunroof.

I would certainly be happy to drop an under utilised Durango...but not so sure about replacing it with a TourX (especially a US spec one). However, in that class in the States, what other options are there?

Does the Durango have the V8? Do you need the extra room or to tow? I don’t have any biases for or against the Durango so I can’t use that as a basis for a recommendation so I’ll just ask if you’re wanting to go smaller or not?

Buick is kind of a dead brand, and the TourX is probably gonna be a dead model soon, so go for it!

I would but I have an admittedly unreasoned dislike for the Durango. I think I’m just not really a Dodge fan overall, but that doesn’t. You should also check it on how it will affect your finances if there is another loan.

The Durango isn’t a 5.7 so maybe?
Do you wasn’t a station wagon, or an SUV that hauls like one?

Is it paid off? If so, then no. Is the dango a V8? If so, then no, but if it’s not paid off or it’s not a v8, then sure got for it.

No. The TourX makes me sad. It has sa d plastic cladding and comes in all the sad colors and the interior makes me feel sad.
Everything about the Durango you have posted makes me feel like maximum dad x1000.
The TourX... meh.

Nope the Durango is just a pentastar. I do use the cargo space for lumber runs and delivering finished products but 90% of the time, it's just me. I tow a 5x8 trialer once in a while

Haul a lot in the back, sometimes. Off-road? Nope but I like to pretend I'm a rally driver every time I see a dirt road

Its neither of these. Keep in mind I drive 35,000 or more miles a year. So is it financially wise to buy a rapidly depreciating vehicle?

Mostly the one where you felt guilty about owning the Durango because you don’t use it to its potential

Oh, where to start?
The V8 didn’t sound as great as I expected, and acceleration was surprisingly tepid for the power ratings (yeah, I know, it’s a heavy thing, but it still felt slower than it should be).
Junk interior.
Uncomfortable seats.
Not nearly as spacious as it looks like it should be.
The steering was pretty good, that was probably the best thing about it.
I had it for a week because my ‘19 MDX A-Spec was at the shop getting a new rear bumper after getting rear ended at a stoplight. I really missed the MDX that week. It’s superior in pretty much every way except engine noise.

It’s wise of your the second owner ;). But yeah if it’s not paid off, or if it’s a lease, then yeah might as well get something you like a bit better.
I’m normally buying cars secondhand and letting somebody else take the depreciation hit. And then I get to play with fun cars for reasonable cost. Once a car is paid off though, it’s a different deal. You can buy lots of fuel and repairs for the cost of a car payment or lease payment. So at that point, if you can’t go even money on something else, it’s a bit of a tough sell.

Mileage varies considerably depending on how heavy your right foot is and whether you’re driving the flatlands or in the mountains. My average MPG on top tier fuel is 26 over the 5000 miles I’ve had the car. I’ve gotten tanks as high as 35 on pure highway @ 70 mph and as low as 22 doing mostly city driving. I run about 50/50 tanks of 87 octane and 91 octane premium (premium is recommended but not required, i use that when I’m going to be climbing the Sierras). Whatever power or MPG increase I get from premium is not noticeable to me. The 250 hp/295 lb-ft beats the power and torque figures of many other much more expensive competitors’ 2.0T motors, and the car handles, accelerates and stops quite well considering its’ size, weight and retail price point. So far, law enforcement has ignored the car, which is great. Buick wagons don’t concern the traffic cops, apparently. Quite a few people have come over and complimented the car, though. It looks good in person.
I had one front end noise over braking - covered under a TSB and repaired under warranty with new lower control arms with revised bushings. One check engine light the first month I had it from a loose engine oil gas cap. Otherwise, no issues. Like a lot of cars these days, it doesn’t come with a spare tire so I put together a donut spare that matches the stock tire diameter, which is important for the AWD. It works great but doesn’t fit in the stock spare tire well.
The car is very smooth, comfortable and quiet, the seats are good, and the DC1 option package is totally worth it: the self leveling
LED headlights are great, The cross traffic alert and blind spot alerts are very useful and not annoying. The Bose optional stereo is decent but not spectacular. I passed on the DC2 option pack because I didn’t like the similar lane departure warning setup that was on a ‘15 Cadillac CT4 I drove for a while. You can only get heated seats and a power passenger seat with the leather seat option, which is kind of stiff from what I’ve heard. I do miss the heated seats. Interior storage and cupholders are
somewhat lacking.
The AWD system works very well, putting power down solidly in dry, wet, snow and dirt roads. The car is surefooted in the rain and in snow - I have driven 40+ miles through snow covered I-80 in the Sierras under blizzard conditions and CHP chain controls on the stock all season tires without chains installed
and not had any issues at all.
The car is low, so it’s super easy to get to a roof rack and the car comes with stock roof rails. Stock ground clearance is only 5.7" (about the same as a stock Camry) so if you’re planning on doing off roading beyond dirt roads, or seeing deep snow regula
rly this may not be the car for you. Another 2-3" of ground clearance would be useful but nobody has done a lift yet that I’ve seen.
Some cars have dual USB ports in the front, others like mine only have one, so look in the armrest before you buy a particular car. All of them have two charge-only ports in back, a nice touch.
If you shop around and are willing to travel, you can get a loaded top of the line Essence for about what my ‘18 Preferred cost - $28k.
