Although it doesn’t have much competition, there are probably people who like Rivera’s better than it, or one of the Regal GS models, or the Lacrosse Super and there is probably one idiot who thinks the Rendezvous is the best because they are either

B: Stupid

I drove an 81 Monte Carlo when I was a teenager, and thought it was a bit of a grandpa car... because my grandpa had a standard 79 Buick Regal.

The formal-roof notchback coupes like the GM G-bodies just didn’t do it for me, although I did respect the T-type, Grand National, and GNX for their performance... but I always thought the F-body was much cooler, specifically the Firebird and TA more than the jock/mullet-associated Camaro.

But in terms of Buick... I’d go well before my time, and get a 66-67 Mark II Riviera, and resto-mod that. I like it better than the Eldo or the Toronado that were both front-drive, while the Rivie was RWD and a bit more subtly cool.

but Mark I and Mark III boat-tail Rivies are probably more popular with most.

And i will be on your side, i would take a gnk with t tops over a chevelle reskin any day. Dollar to dollar the gn is a better car.
