Yeah, the days of pissing away money on pipe dreams may be largely over tbh. Between computer modeling and renders being as good as they are, plus the precarious financial state of some of these companies, bailouts, etc... doesn't make much sense to spend wildly on dreams that'll never materialize.

The i8 didn’t exactly have a predecessor, so a replacement is uncertain. I’m glad they’re looking into it, anyway.

I, for one, am hoping the G80 M3 “Pure” is amazing...

There are tons of concept cars that aren’t just slightly spiffed up pre- production models (though not all of them are fancy super cars) a quick browse of wikipedia turns up things from the past 10 years (apologies if I accidentally include something that becomes a real car at some point, also some of these are just renders, I’m too lazy to sort them out, but fundamentally I’m not sure that’s really all that much different than non-functional shells of years past ) :

A nyways, there’s lots out there though some brands are definitely more active than others, and others seem to work in bursts (presumably depending on financials and how much they feel the need to reinvent their brand).
