I just discovered there is a car detailing supply shop not far from me. Pricey but its all chemical guys stuff. I bought some spray for the fallout, a claybar and a ceramic/soap combo wash.
Also, I have an update on the CV saga with the GX (dealer inspected before a trip and okayed the CV’s. No tears) I inspected them and they were cut and had been for a while). The dealer said they would eat the labor. It’s about all I was comfortable with in the ask. so now if I can find a good OE axle for less than dealer prices I will get that sorted out. Still want new front springs but those can wait until I can do them myself.
I also treated myself to a new pair of yakima 1A towers for the spare bar I had. Now I’ll have 4 crossbars. Eventually I will tie them together and grid them out for a hodgepodge rack that will suit my needs fine.

They said they’d eat the labor, I’d have told them to eat a...
Ok, breathe...
That kind of thing is mildly annoying. Not a great foundation for a trusting relationship.

I’d be more pissed but I own part of the problem too. I could have gotten under there and done my own inspection. I had just replaced the oil. They carry some liability but not all of it.

Counter with free labor plus 20% off on the part. If they want to keep your business they should go for it as that’s the discount they give to shops anyways.

I hear ya but if you ask a pro to check something, they say that they did you’re all good and that turns out to not be the case... Just a bit too unprofessional for my liking, because what else are they potentially being less than truthful about? Did they really flush those brakes, drop the pan and R&R the trans filter, replace that well hidden PCV, etc? I’d just never be able to trust them again. You and I m ay have no qualms with crawling under a vehicle that was literally just handed back from the service dept, but most probably wouldn’t do so . The axle would have to snap before they’d accept that it was NFG , because “ the dealer checked it and said it’s fine. Probably just the (insert wild guess here), I’ll have them check it again when they do the oil change next year.”
Glad you caught it though.

I bought a giant microfiber drying towel from them a couple weeks ago. Works awesome.
