I really want to go up in the air. My lust for a Learjet is still as strong as ever and the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I want is still for sale.
Any Oppo know someone with an old LearJet that would wanna show me it? I have never seen one up close and it is a long shot, but figured if anyone would know someone.
Much slick, very fast

Man just think how fun it would be to camp out of this thing at OshKosh! You and a few friends being the verge of rich. I feel like it would be like roadtripping a Bentley Turbo R with some friends and camping along the way cause the car costs so much to, but you look money the whole time.
Plus 45k foot ceiling. I want to be that high up.

More than likely, but they are only $1200 an hour to operate.... *dies*

$1200/hr? According to what spreadsheet? It also depends on type of flights. That’s 5,000 pounds of fuel burn at take off setting.
Theres a reason it's still for sale. An old panel like that is increasingly hard to fix because the instruments are no longer made and repairs party's for them are drying up. A big reason Southwest got rid of the 737-300/500 models. It's also not exactly RVSM compliant which means flying at 28000 feet where it's not efficient. Upgrading all that put you into compliant Lear 35/citation territories of purchase. But if you need a few turbojet engines, this is basically a pair of them with a free plane attached.

Don’t know where you live, but Google “ Learjets in museums ”. There are several...

I don’t remember where I saw that, but I believe that was average.
So you are saying the instrumentation isn’t qualified enough to fly at its service ceiling?

That isn’t a bad idea. Th ough most museums don’t allow you inside and to open everything and check them out.

Even t he GPS in that Learjet is an older version of what I’ve been flying with and it’s no longer in production.

It is new enough to be supported by Garmin, but not for much longer.

I’ve been flying these things in MS Flight Sim since version 3.0 and I’m dying to ride in one someday. That and the HondaJet.
Let me know if you manage to succeed.

Well, it cant CRUISE between 29-41k. So if your light enough you can cruise at 42- 45.

That thing is a money pit that will cost far more to operate than it’d ever be worth.
If you want a cool looking $300,000 lawn ornament, then this is a decent place to start. If you actually want to operate a jet there are much, much better options.

It’s the realistic take. I know part pricing, you don’t want a 50 year old airplane.

No I know. It would never be a plane I would own if I could just afford the plane.

This was actually a cool conversation. I just searched ‘ RVSM lear24' and clicked. Neat stuff. Old cheap planes are everywhere but it's all a cost of operation lifestyle I'm finding.
