Not too shabby looking. We had such a late spring here that everything is growing slow.

All I want to know is “What did the Italian culinary landscape look like before 1500?” (since tomatoes came from Mexico and Central America)
Since they’re part of the nightshade family, the French considered them inedible and they were used as a decorative plant for something like 100 years.
Crazy.

YIL that by federal law there are 3 acceptable ways to spell Ketchup.
Ketchup
Catsup
Catchup
Title 21, Volume 2, Part 155, Section 194 (21CFR155.194)
I also learned that Big Butter had a real hard on for Margarine . By law margarine had to be dyed pink. It also had to be clearly labeled as such in (iirc) 16 point font. Oh, and if one were to serve unlabeled pats of margarine they were only allowed to be triangular in shape.
Yes, people were actually prosecuted over this shit... and not all that long ago, all things considered.

Anyway you spell it, I’d rather have Sriracha.
and just because someone doesn’t know the difference between butter and oleo shouldn’t mean someone has to go to prison.

I considered going doctoral (my first gig after finishing my master’s was a professorship), but I went public ed for the experience, then never went back. These days, I think I’d only reconsider doctoral if I went back into academia. Are your brother and father in academia?

Well, sort of. Dad was a tenured music professor, but I would not call him an academic. My brother, whom we know here as Ttyymmnn, raised the kids while Missus has worked. I consider what you and I do as being educators and I consider being an academic as something else.
This year just ended, I happened in on the band class where I work and I could hear that they'd greatly improved over the course of the year and it gave me great pleasure to tell them so. I knew whereof I spoke.

I HAD NO IDEA THAT TTYYMMNN WAS YOUR BROTHER. He and I are always bouncing comments off of each other, especially since I'm in El Paso. One of these years, I'm gonna crash one of his gigs in Austin. ^_^
