I’ve had several vivid dreams about going back to the oilfield. I don’t know if it’s my mind subliminally saying I want to back to the oilfield or if it’s something else.

Oil is a dying industry.  Switch to mining electrons, man.

I have lots of dreams about things I truly do not want to experience.

I know, still doesn’t stop some innate desire to go back.

Whenever I have the desire to go back to my old job function, I drink more.

I have been drinking  too much recently, think I need to tap the brakes a little.

Regardless of your dreams, doesn’t seem like a good time to come back.

I have never been to an oilfield, and while your post includes a still picture of a night scene, it  somehow imparts a lot sound. Like that picture is of a really loud and mechanical sounding environment .

I know, not wanting to get laid off again and being near friends is why I didn’t take an offer to go back. Despite that, there’s always the what if.

At max RPM, frac pumps are loud.

That’s exactly it. The rewards are high, but you have to deal with a lot of uncertainty, and, if you’re in the field, a crazy lifestyle.

My company is currently in the middle of a reset of sorts. I assume that we’ll continue as a team for at least a few more years, but I really can’t say anything with a high level of certainty. At any time, our backer could decide to pull the plug.

Well, whenever I get the desire to go back to my old job function, I drink less.

I remember how stressful it was worrying about whether or not I’d have a job.

I think there will always be oil but the market is saturated. IMO the future of energy is here and it’s solar/electric with battery storage or direct to grid. Minin g lithium in the Nevada desert could be a way to go. Have you ever been to Winnamuca?

Yeah, no bueno. Mrs. addiction just made it through a layoff, and ended up with a promotion and a raise. Guess she’s doing something right!

I do wonder at times if I should’ve taken that Halliburton job out in Colorado. Probably not, but I’ll never know.

It’s like Texas but drier, colder and less culture.
