Bought last year; built 10/69 and still going strong.
You can never have enough tool storage. Currently, I’m in the market for overflow storage to supplement my main toolbox above: Craftsman 65334, two drawer with lifting lid, 20"W X 8.5" D X 9.5" T.
The goals would be a 2 or 3 drawer box without a lift top that the above box would fit on top reasonably . Currently this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! seems to be ticking all of the right boxes. I have neither the tool collection or the space to warrant anything bigger at the moment.
Anyone have any experience with this box, or have any other suggestions? I’d ideally like to keep the price no higher than the Grizzly. Lower is better, however.
Bonus sticker shot:
I’m an under the lid kinda sticker guy.

Check craigslist, your money will go a lot further there. Otherwise it really pays to inspect them in person - lots of flimsy crap out there.

Middle chests are kind of a niche tool box that non-truck-tool brands don’t make anymore , so if you don’t want a flip open top, this will probably be your best/cheapest option. If you have the space for a little more height Craftsman or Husky have decent options for a little less money.

Craigslist, craigslist, craigslist. I found a craftsman 5 draw with a flip top for $50 at a rummage sale.

I didn’t know Grizzly had gotten into the toolbox biz. My general experience with Grizzly tools, is that they’re generally pretty decent. Harbor Frieght tool boxes, are surprisingly decent as well, if you buy the higher end versions.
I have a Gladiator 3-drawer intermediate chest that is about that size and price , but a little deeper. I’ve been super happy with it. A cursory internet search shows it out of stock everywhere, but if you c an find one, it’s quite a good tool chest.
Used is a good way to go though. Start stalking CL or FB marketplace, and you can find some really nice stuff at very reasonable prices.

Last I looked, they didn’t really have what I was looking for. If I was going for something bigger, then they would be on my list.

The Craftsman box above I picked up for ~$25 at a flea market . I really lucked out on that one! I was hoping for a repeat this year, but no luck.
I’ll have to take a look on craigslist and see what I can find.

The Grizzly box seems to be getting decent reviews. I wonder whose design/build it is? I’d happily look at the higher end Harbor Freight tool boxes, too, though they don’t seem to have anything comparable. There don’t appear to be many intermediate chests out on the market. Either they have fallen out of popularity, or they were never really that popular.
As it goes for me, my best used finds are things I wasn’t really looking for in the first place . As soon as I start looking for something more specific, that’s when I have a hard time. The Craftsman tool box above was a random find at a flea market. I had in the back of my mind that I needed something a bit bigger than the ‘90s Craftsman hip roof toolbox I was using before, but I wasn’t actively looking. It turned out to be awesome for only $25.

This style of tool box does seem to be light on the ground, which is too bad, as they would really fit my current situation. The reviews on the Grizzly seem to be decent; I may just take a chance on it.

The handles on the Grizzly look familiar, but I can’t quite place it. I noticed the lack of intermediate chests out there a couple months ago, when I was thinking of picking up another one for my school shop.
I too have found it easier to find something used when I wasn’t really looking for it/needed it. You could bide your time on this purchase if you wanted to though. Or just buy the Grizzly, it’s probably good.
That old Craftsman box was a great score.

I can report that the Grizzly H0837 is a nice toolbox. I think i
t’s going to compliment the Craftsman quite nicely. Hopefully, this gives me a bit more space for a while...
The Craftsman was an amazing score! One that I don’t think I could easily repeat.

Good to know, thanks! I may pick one of these up for my school shop this fall.
