Remember like a month and a half ago I posted about having a accepted offer on a house?

Well things worked out and we signed the papers on the 13th. After we paper work was done the bank was nice enough to give us the keys to their house. Since the. We’ve been working on replacing the flooring. My wife works at her father’s flooring store we planned on replacing the flooring from day one. Which was a good thing because one bedroom, which had just been a storage room for the P.O. was covered in pupppy diarrhea. Yeah tearing that carpet out was not fun, face masks, and gloves were used.

However there was one good surprise that I didn’t notice before we bought the house. One bedroom window goes out onto a shallow sloped roof, I have always wanted my own roof to chill on, since I was like 21 and afriend of mine had an apartment like that. Here’s the view off said roof. Thanks to the trees in the yard It’s actually relatively private. It’ll be a good place for 2am beers.

And my kid going “how did you get up there?” Mom wasn’t around so I helped him come up too.

That upper roof looks kinda crispy. Don’t plan on leaving that on for  too many years.

I have a thing about heights but with that setup I’d be perfectly comfortable having an evening beer or two up there. I’m jealous.

cheers from the rooftop. congratz on the new place. what did you put down for flooring? I enjoyed sitting ont he roof so much i designed an addition to add a third floor roof deck

Yeah it’s going to need a roof. I’m planing on going with a metal roof when the time comes... Altho that won’t be as good for walking on.

And yes, 4 stall garage. Kind of small for a 4 car tho.  I think it’s like 20x60?

The upstairs, which is all the bedrooms, and the bathroom is a cork backed, solid core LVP (luxury vinyl plank) in a wood look.

The downstairs: kitchen, dining   room, laundry room, and 1/2 bath will be a similar LVP but a stone look. The l iving rooms I’ll be the only carpet in the house. My son and I both suffer from a lot of allergies so the more hard surface the better.

My garage will get the old living room carpet lol

Yeah, the lower roof was obviously redone recently. You can even see a broken piece  of the old roof hanging out at the joint.

Metal roofs are awesome though.

20x60 would be huge. It's probably 20x40, which is on the small side for a 4-car.

The overall process was smooth, but we know our mortgage lender, and our real estate agent because my mother in law was an agent in this town. And the seller was a very nice guy so that made things easy too. He even left us a lawn mower and an antique trunk. He basically had us walk through the house after he’d pack and tell him if anything he’d left could stay or needed to me removed.

I’ve heard penny of horror stories about home buying, and I know we lucked out on how easy this process was, but I couldn’t give any one tips on how to avoid those same hang ups, other that find a realtor you like and get to know them because if they like you they’ll be more helpful.

Yeah, metal roofs are easy to install, and last a lot longer, plus there’s more color choices! I kinda of want. Purple roof, and in my town it wouldn’t be a shocker. Lots of colorful houses around. Both of mine are grrrray.

Niiiiice!

The hotel we stayed in last week has just remodeled their rooms, and used that stuff as flooring. So much better than scratchy hotel carpet!

Mine is about 40 degrees, that's steep enough to preclude roof anything :)
