It's an 11th grade emo CB kind of night

It was either this or “ The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot ” which is infinitely sadder, so I’m just gonna groove along to this tune alone in the office. How’s everyone else doing?

I’m listening to sad 80s music trying to fall asleep.

It’s not working, hence why I ended up here.

I could recommend sad 90s music.

Somehow I missed Brand New back in the day when I was a teenager and they were big. I got on board about 2015.

Which means no emo connotations for me, just a good band. I’m not sure about Deja but The Devil And God... is fantastic and I reckon Science Fiction is even better.

Hierarchy will always be Devil and God, Deja Entendu, Daisy, Your Favorite Weapon. Still haven't heard Science Fiction because of all the drama around Jesse Lacey.

A few years ago, I would have taken issue with your list because Daisy was at the top for me, but I honestly just couldn’t listen to them after finding out Jesse is a trash person.

Here is a nice alternative that I stumbled upon a few months ago:

“You’ve got a 9 to 5, so I’ll take the night shift, and I’ll never see you again if  I can help it.”

I’d put S cience Fiction above Daisy but below Deja. It was really great for the few weeks between the album’s release and finding out what Adam Lazzara meant when he called Jesse a shitty person years after the TBS/BN feud was put to bed.

Kills me. I’ve got a bunch of friends who all love Devil and God but haven’t given Science Fiction a chance. Not before the drama, nor after . I’m not sure it’d be your thing if you’re from the early days, it’s less rock. But there’s more to dissect.

Lucy Dacus rules. That whole album, Historian, is great. I stumbled upon her by way of her involvement in Boygenius, a pretty awesome supergroup with her, Phoebe Bridgers, and Julien Baker. Good stuff.
