I’ve just been to a job interview in Tauranga, a town a few hours south of where I live. One of the supposed attractions of living there is “get away from big city traffic”.
It’s now an hour since I left the interview and I’ve travelled about 5 miles. Traffic is slow enough that posting on Oppo while driving seems like a perfectly sane idea. And it’s not even rush hour.
You’re not selling yourselves here , guys!

Big city traffic can only end when cars fly. But then big cities will become REALLY big; continent sized, crossing oceans. Then even air traffic will be problematic again and there will be no solution.
Humans can only cause traffic. Get rid of the humans, and the traffic will go with them.

Fully autonomous vehicles with car-to-car communication will help. If “drivers” were non- territorial and able to follow smoothly and to negotiate and execute perfect high-speed merges and crossings, we could jam a heck of a lot more traffic on existing roads.
It’ll be a while before the density of old-school meatware controlled cars is low enough to make that work though

Is that a failure of cars or of infrastructure? A one lane main road ( presumably to Auckland?) is asking for trouble...
