To go along with the cancer and ulcer and whatever other ailments I’ve contacted this year I have now been diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis. I woke up yesterday and stepped out of bed to a new experience in pain radiating up my left leg. I visited my PCP after verifying with my oncologist that this wasn’t chemo related (I always check with them first under the assumption that most of my recent bouts of sickness are chemo related).
Getting old sucks. Try to avoid it if at all possible...

Man that sucks. My dad was diagnosed with the same about a year ago- he gets by with some good insoles and shoes all the time.

Even your feet are being disobedient. Things will get better. They always do.

My dad has PF. It sucks. I’m sorry about that.
And yes, getting old sucks. But at least you are still waking up in the morning. I see that as a victory.

I dealt with this a few years ago. There are two schools of thought. The first is the typical medical approach - coddle your foot in orthotics and wait for it to heal. The second is to make the foot stronger by walking around barefoot as much as possible. I chose the latter. A pair of flat-bottom “minimalist” shoes substitute for going barefoot. Both methods call for massage (stepping on a tennis ball works) and stretching. There are some ankle braces that keep your feet at a 90 while you sleep. Some people like them, but I found them uncomfortable.
I haven’t had any problems since I went minimal on weekends.
Good luck with yours!

Idk how I ended up here, but you and I share this. I was also diagnosed on Friday, but mine took a trip to the hospital and agonizing pain.
Mine was a really bad case, but has improved since.
Hang in there, my dude. We can do this.

Thanks. Good luck to you as well. I ended up at the doctors office on Friday for a diagnosis, taking yet more time off work, thankfully not needing to head to the hospital. These days it’s just one ailment after another, and all I can do is laugh about the absurdity of it all.
I’m doing a bit better these days, as long as I’m loaded full of Naproxen. Going up the stairs isn’t a problem since my heel doesn't need to touch the step, but going down is a challenge. I’ve heard that the compression sleeves are good this condition, but today I’m going to try some fancy insoles. For the first time in a long time I was able to purchase an OTC item with my FSA card, so I went for the premium product. I’ll let you know how they work out. Today is my Friday and I wasn’t planning on going anywhere for my weekend, but I guess I’ll have to test these out by wearing shoes around the house at a time when I usually wouldn't...
