Going good, actually. I may get a manual 2002 Civic EX Coupe for $700(probably less though) which would be my first car, I’m super stoked about that. Plus I’m starting to gain weight and put on muscle and my health is beginning to improve so there’s that too. How’ve you been ?

I am doing well on the east coast, although it is after midnight and I should have gone to bed hours ago. Tonight was the annual company outing to see the local minor league baseball team. One of my newer coworkers decided to use the opportunity to drink ample beers and then talk to the president of the company about what they’re doing wrong. So that guy is either getting fired or promoted.

Olive is overdue for a trip to the groomer.

You could get one of those segways that can climb stairs. And my personal point of view is that too many people want desk jobs, but employers don’t pay non-desk jockeys enough to maintain parity.

No wonder manufacturing and specialized industries are desperate for bodies.

Personally I’m doing good. Work has been hectic. We were already at capacity and one of our very good but young and dumb technicians fucked up and got a DWI over the weekend. Automatic suspension of his security clearance so he’s gone for months minimum and now we are really scrambling. Fortunately he didn’t hurt anyone. He has some personal issues and I hope he gets the help he needs. Sorry needed to vent. Other than that I’m trying to figure out how to convince my wife that a 24 year old Toyota with 250,000 miles on it for sale down the street that is in fact worth $4k and does have tons of life left in it  and we should totally buy it even though we have nowhere to put it.

It’s hot, I went to the gym, and went out with the dog for two hours. I am exhausted and hoping my car stereo plays CD audio again when I plug it back in later tonight. The dog is far from tired, of course, and is currently trying to nibble my elbow while I eat dinner.

Indeed. The arrest record says he was initially pulled over for basically driving like a jerk (unsafe maneuvering, failure to signal) - but he does that all the time in his modified WRX. Play boy racer enough and eventually you’ll get the attention of a cop. Get the wrong cop or one having a bad day and they are going to book you even if you’ve only had one drink.

There’s been some warning signs with this guy though. He was arrested for suspicion of DWI a couple years ago (under 21 at the time) a 8 AM but he blew just under the limit at the station and eventually all charges were dropped. He’s also come into work pretty hungover a few times recently. We’re all a little annoyed because it makes our lives harder but hopeful he gets it out of his system and being as supportive as we can. He grew up in an absolute shit situation in rural NM with almost no opportunities but he took the one he got with us and showed that he’s scrappy and brilliant and was really on the upswing. I don’t want to see him throw it all away - we all make mistakes. I (and most of the others on our team)   just want to help this guy learn from it.

Surviving. Drove a friend to the airport and he’s letting me borrow his Accord while he’s gone as a thank you. That covers AC on the road. Also p ut together a swamp cooler that handles AC duties at home.

How are you handling this heat? Ready to dig out a a backyard underground sanctuary yet?
