"HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles" (hondasfordsvolvo)

Looking for cool cars on the east coast I found this MGB GT. Normally a pretty cool car, one that interest me especially, because I love pretty much anything that is some sort of RWD hatchback.
But this MG has a secret. A super charger that is about as large(or small, lol ) as the engine.
The engine bay could be cleaner, and I’d would like to see an aftermarket radiator, but the interior looks nice.
The car does have some... unfortunate decals, but they are just vinyl and in theory completely removable.
The asking price is maybe a bit high, but not bad at all.

Rad car. A good MG will keep you off the street.

Correct. I learned this lesson when I bought an AMC Jeep in high school.

I wonder if it would be possible to fit a 302 with a Paxton in an MGB GT? Because I know the RV8 fits, and the deck is higher. I’m almost dead sure it’s possible. Anyway, the phrase “supercharged MGB GT” is making me have a crisis.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

My dad once had an MGC GT in Primrose Yellow, with wire wheels. I never got a chance to drive it as he traded it in beforei could drive on a Mustang II Mach 1, a hideous thing that almost became my first car; I dodged a bullet and got mom’ s old Dasher wagon instead, a much better car than the Mustang.

If I was going to put V8 in one of these idgo for a 1UZ, or Nissan VK45.
Small displacement, and high revv ing.

I love all that space under the hood

The BGT is really under-appreciated . Weathertight and with a parcel shelf in the back that doubles as 2 occasional seats for small children or friends you don’t really like that much.

Probably a fair bit stiffer than the roadster too

Well, a 302 will go north of 6000, and a properly prepped 289 will go 7000+. Are you sure either of your options would fit? The cheeky thing about the 289 and the 302 is that they are as narrow as hell. Some of the smallest moderate displacement V8s ever for width and height. Ford, in their stupidity genius decided with the first gen Windsor blocks that what small block V8s really needed was wide bore spacing, dammit, and as consequence they’re a little longer than Chebby and much shorter of deck. So short, that it necessitated the 351 having a taller deck to go even that big, and that’s why the 289 has a sub-3" stroke and is one of the most oversquare production engines of all time.
Plus which, a 302 has character for days. And easily bolts to pretty much any popular manual box with minimal fuss. And has cheap parts. And is period correct. And has turnkey supercharger options for only somewhat expensive.

The GTs are Pininfarina designed as well, so they’ve got that going for them.
If it truly is clean, it’s probably good value
with the supercharger and wire wheels. IIRC the GT’s also got leather seats instead of vinyl.

I’m surprised the internals don’t become externals once that spools.

Seems a some what common upgrade. There’s. Even a One Take of one.
