The author of the project is Daniel Soriano , currently working as Concept Surface Designer at Volvo. He explains “Since most modern cars nowadays are souless machines with more similarities to an electrodomestic than to an actual car, I wanted to create an homage to the old school generations of super cars.
He was part of the team that developed this
for the 2011 Ferrari World Design Competition
.
After seven years Daniel decided to update it as a personal challenge to
check his evolution and growth as a designer, after professional
experiences at Lamborghini, Volvo Cars and Polestar among the others. As
a result he decided to redesign and remodel the car from scratch,
dubbing it
Ferrari Aliante Barchetta
.
I kinda dig it. Not sure how you get in and out of it, though. A couple surfaces are questionable. But beautiful renderings.

There’s something very P3/4 about the f enders and rear, without looking overtly retro. Looks better than the LaFerrari (although that’s not a high bar). Bits of Maserati Birdcage in there too imo.

Very, very cool, t hat top angle is really striking in particular . I feel like a little more rise in the hips wouldn’t hurt the profile view, though. It also looks like the transaxle would be...interesting, and I have no idea where the radiators would fit. But what a great exercise, certainly more exciting than some anonymous trans-pod or another crossover/ sedan/ blob with a huge plastic maw on the front. H is quote on modern cars hits home. It must be refreshing for designers to just go for it like this.
