I’ve always thought so. Those Mantas are super light, I think stock like 1900lbs (I’m sure they fold up like a cheap suit in a crash though). But an LNF can be pretty easily/reliably cranked to around 400HP, so assuming weight don’t change too much, you’re looking at 5 lbs/HP. Not too shabby.
I usually have tons of weird engine swap ideas that make no sense to lay persons but I think would be cool. I added 2 more as a reply - AW11 MR2 with a VW VR5 (sounds like baby Lambo) and an S2000 (or I’d say NB Miata) with Volvo’s B8444S 60 degree V8.

Probably not, the best factory version is only 170 HP, the S/C AW11 made 145 HP. Granted I’d hop up the VR5, apparently you can wring over 200HP out of them without going crazy. Mainly I just love the noise they make and love the idea of this “mini Lambo”.
But first I need to import a VR5.

The engine makes that torque at 1750, so yes it will smoke the tires just a little bit...
Most of the cars that have that engine weigh more than the Bonneville, and you could put a stupid tall rear end in it. E63s have a 2.65 final drive and 2 overdriven gears ( 0.73 top gear).
Aerodynamics suck but I think you could get 20 mpg out it maybe?

Well, the 2CV engine put out 33hp/29 lb-ft torque (1970-1979), and 29hp/39 lb-ft torque (same engine, detuned for emissions/better top speed but slower accel. 1979-1990) in final top spec.
The 126p’s most powerful engine put out 24hp with 32 lb-ft of torque, so the 2CV engine is more powerful both power and torque wise, despite being a smaller displacement! :)
Also, 2CV engine bottom halves were ‘sealed-for-life’, yes, but they were known to have had some tested for something like 1000hrs straight at full throttle with no failure, so they were EXTREMELY robust.
So as much as I love the 126/classic 500, the 2CV’s engine would be a good choice! :D

Manwich - now Keto-Friendly

Well the sedan had a ~5000 pound curb weight.
Once you remove the MEL 430 V8 (~740 pounds), MX 3-speed automatic transmission (~175 pounds dry), the drive shaft, gas tank, exhaust and other bits that won’t be needed, you’ve just freed up at least 1000 pounds.... but probably more.
Then when adding the Tesla bits, you’re probably adding back ~2000 pounds (battery pack 1200, 300 for rear drive unit, 200 for front drive unit, maybe 100-300 more for other bits).
So on a net basis, the weight will be in the 5500-6000 pound ballpark... maybe less if the mechanical genius can get his hands on newer/lighter/better Tesla Model 3 battery modules.
