Price of car or price of oil change? But seriously, this AMG S65 Cabriolet pushes all the right buttons for me.
Inb4 all the comments about brake dust.

That rear 3/4 is not flattering.

i find it quite flattering

This doesn’t push any of my buttons

For what it’s worth, the dealer by me had an S65 coupe and cab in their showroom last year, each with discounts that put them well under $ 200k.

wah-wah

Yeah, people see the whole “slower to 60 than an S63" thing and it sort of undermines it.

I'll take two.

I don’t know, Mercedes and BMWs all look so basic nowadays. But that doesn’t mean I would kick em out of bed though.
![]() 06/10/2019 at 14:08 |

But I mean if you can afford this, you can afford someone to clean it and not have it looking like crap.

Can’t wait to not buy one when they’re $20k in seven years.
![]() 06/10/2019 at 14:27 |

Then again, if you can afford this, you can afford to not take it seriously.

It causes my jimmies to wave in the wind, but falls short of rustling.

V12 just because you can. Get’ em while they make em.
![]() 06/10/2019 at 14:35 |

I mean ... it does have a v12 so it’s definitely got something going for it.

Call me a pleb, but I’d rather spend half of that on a green over tan S550.

Imagine paying a quarter million just to see this
![]() 06/10/2019 at 14:45 |

I actually prefer the “base” S560 version. The amg and sport models look a bit jowelly in the face to me.
Either way this is possibly the only car on sale right now i could see myself trying to own 20 years in the future. I love the inlayed wood and the styling overall proves what the rest of the brand was going for

IIRC that’s just because the 4matic can’t handle the V12s torque, but people will look at that and pass- especially given the price premium.

Too late they’ve already stopped.

But do you have Swarovski crystals in the headlamp housing?

man... how can somebody spend that kind of coin and never wash their wheels....

An excellent selection good sir

True, but as frinesi2 said, there’s something to be said for having so much money that a $250,000 Mercedes is like “Oh, this old thing?”

I’d pay a
quarter million to never have to see that again.

I agree, across almost all of Merc’s lineup I prefer the non-AMG styling.

They probably was their seven figure toys. This is just their beater.
![]() 06/10/2019 at 19:38 |

Or maybe a Roush-kitted Cadillac CTS-V and keep the rest for a brake job on the Caddie.
![]() 06/10/2019 at 19:39 |

People buy cool cars and then are shocked to discover that a brake job is three grand and tires are $600 apiece.

You can easily find Rolls-Royce Silver Shadows from $10,000 to $15,000, since they’re too common to be exclusive enough, and they’ll often need some $3,000- 5,000 of brake work (they have special hydraulic brakes).

I wouldn't mind checking one out for the weekend, but I bet even an oil filter for one of those is $150.
