Nice to hear from you Z.
I always loved the look of those Saturns, more than the corresponding Pontiac. I owned a few Saturns years ago, but nothing like the Sky. My favorite Saturn was this one:

a) glad to hear from you
b)
I’ve wanted a Sky
since I saw the Vauxhall Lightning Concept at the ‘04 Detroit show. Was so happy that so much of the concept made it into production, and then add in the Redline package. One day it will be mine...

Doing my best to keep up the fight, it tends to be very up and down the last year. I am hoping to start posting more, finally got into my burner on my new laptop!

I always liked the original “plastic” Saturns, they seemed like honest, reliable and quality cars. I had two friends in high school with them, both SC2s - one ran it for at least 40k miles without even a simple oil change and it kept on going no issue, whereas the other one had the DOHC+manual transmission with a turbo and that thing was faster than it had any right to be.
The Sky was the better Miata that everyone seems to dismiss or forget about. They are super reliable, make power very easy and are amazingly capable; the only downside was some of the plastic interior bits and needing to get out to put the top down.

Thank you, glad to see I am still remembered here.
The Vauxhall Lightning concept is still gorgeous and I am glad it translated into the Sky being made. The Redline is a wonderful use of the chassis, even Bob Lutz thinks so! They are getting cheap if you avoid the retirees that think their 200k mile Sky is still worth $20k. I’ve seen reasonable mile Redlines going for $8-11k and non-turbos are hitting under $5k fairly often - both good deals!

Shame, they are fun cars to own. Hopefully over-hopeful owners didn’t price him out of the market. Seems like people are quick to dismiss them or write them off for non-issues or such.
I definitely recommend trying to get some wheel time behind a manual Redline that has been maintained, even if it i s just a test drive and you have no intention of ever owning one. It’s a fun experience!

Nice summer weather and all the fun cars slowly make their way back out. Strangely I haven’t seen the Skys or Solstices out yet, but suddenly there are Crossfires everywhere and I didn’t even know there were that many left, let alone in my city!

He’s... picky. I would suspect that his tendency to consider minor issues as critical combined with people selling them for (frankly) way too much drove him away.
I would like to drive one some day for sure, I’ve heard good things!

Yeah they are absolutely getting to the bottom of the curve depreciation wise, it’s really lack of garage space that’s held me off at this point.
Rumor was that GM was initially losing $10K a car on every Kappa platform vehicle sold and never made money on them . They have lots of hydroforming that shouldn’t have even been near that price point given the volume of cars sold . It’s effectively a near hand-built sportscar for 10 year old Camry money.
