"Snuze: Needs another Swede" (markg)

Mrs. Snuze, Ozzy, and I went on a family outing to the dump. Ozzy loves it because he gets a cookie from the scale master. I think this is the first shot I’ve snagged of the Terrain towing and doing work stuff. I still wish I could get a truck, but the Terrain + Trailer combo has been getting work done. It tows effortlessly when I put it in tow mode, which I sometimes forget. Its annoying, if I shut the car off it defaults back to 2wd when I restart it. I dont know what tow mode does, exactly, but it feels weird so I usually remember pretty quick. Fortunately stops are rare.
At some point I’ll get around to reviewing my Harbor Freight folding trailer.

What’s tow mode? Different shift points?

Yup. That, and it avoids overdrive gear(s).

typically tow mode holds the gear a bit longer, and downshifts sooner, so you have more oumph

It is more critical on all these new 6 speeds+ , so they aren’t always hunting for a gear.

Utility trailers are so damn useful.

Yes, this is wonderful. I got about $500 in it all said and done ($300ish on sale plus wood for the deck and sides, stain, hardware, upgraded lights to LED, added a 3rd wheel/jack, etc.). Given that we’re new home owners it beats several thousand for a truck plus all the associated costs (gas, maintenance, ininsurancei nspection, etc). And in VA you can register trailers permanently, so I was out of the DMV for $123 in tax & reg. fees.

That's a perfectly fine rig you've got there.

Thank you! The Mrs. loves her Terrain as a daily, and I like that I can fit a lot of crap in it and tow a surprisingly good amount (3500 lbs). Everything else in class is 1500 or 2000.

That's definitely enough for that trailer. I used to have the same one, but I killed it by overloading it with dirt. Word to the wise, don't be like me and fill those sides up with soil.

Thanks for the heads up. This trailer is rated for 1700lbs. I think so far the most Ive put in it is 500. I’ll probably never pull the full 3500lbs with the Terrain but I like knowing that I have something thats actually meant to tow. The factory hitch and wiring harness are well integrated, and the high capacity radiator and trans cooler are nice and should be helpful even in non-towing situations, like hot summer days. 1

Towing packages are generally full of good stuff to have, even when not towing. That and a locking rear end are the only options on my truck.
