What appears to be rolled rubber roofing used for panel repair. Apparently a different kind of car needs a different kind of Bondo.

Around here these cars kind of stand out because they’re the only thing on the road from this era which are not (visibly) rusted t

I love Saturns. I think my next car will be an SC1 with popups if I can find one.
A friend got hit in her rear quarter in her SL2 yesterday, the rear quarter was gone as was the tail light and it looked that the bumper cover would need realigned, but no other panels got messed with and there looked to be no structural damage. Old Saturns are tanks.

Nice demonstration of crafts manship by using drywall screws. It looks like they are countersunk to improve aerodynamics......

To be honest, Saturn was full of good ideas - both the cars and the dealership experience.

If you can find NOS ones they’re super cheap.Used to be 30-40 bucks at the dealer.
And yes SC coupes are awesome but sadly near extinction.

The flat heads self countersunk into the rubber. Actually an elegant solution in that regard.

Yeah, I was surprised unpainted NOS ones are cheaper than junkyard ones.
There are usually a couple SC2s on local craigslist. An SC1 is rare though, and usually auto.

Only the SC2 has pop ups. The SC1 always had fixed lights. You’ll want the twin cam engine in the SC2 anyway. The single cam was only good for 80-100 horsepower depending on the year. The twin cam had 124 HP and the transmission was geared for better acceleration. It made a big difference.
Mine burned a little oil, as all Saturns do, but that engine gave me absolutely no trouble for fourteen years. And I bought it when it was already ten years old! Ran perfectly fine at all times. Only needed regular maintenance. I replaced many parts on that car, but the engine was rock solid.
