People from Aberdeen will probably be confused, though.

For a full 10 seconds I was wondering if downies are some kind of dutch pastry. In this country, the politically correct people would probably be outraged.

I used to coach a swim team that had a couple members with Down’s syndrome. They and their families referred to each other as “homies with extra chromies.” Another mom tried to tell them how offensive it was, but they said they considered it empowering. I bet there’s a similar thought process here.

That is fucking hilarious.
There’s a Down boy on one of the local Y teams. I see him when I officiate meets. He does great, especially considering all the physiological limitations. Everyone cheers for him. Unfortunately at the last meet, he forgot and did a flip turn in the breast stroke. I had to raise my arm on that. I looked over at the assembled family and team members cheering him on, and they shrugg ed back at me with the look of, “oh well, he fucked up but he’ll learn not to do it again.”
Families of Down kids aren’t looking for pity and oversensitive bullshit. They are just committed to finding maximum joy in their lives from these wonderful kids.

That’s hilarious.
I love the one Down girl at the end shaking her head and looking like, “the fuck did I walk into?”

I had not. That’s pretty cool. I do notice the name contains no terms that anyone could get fussed about, which is probably a good business decision.
