Put a new downpipe in the wagon this past weekend. It now makes all the right noises and Friday I have an appointment for a stage 2 APR tune. Should be around 260 horsepower and 300 ft lbs of torque. Significantly faster than the old RiceCube.

I’d expect it to sound wildly different from the delete of that little pre-resonator (?) alone. Better different.

Thats actually the main cat. It had a high flow cat at the end of the system, but the 02 sensor is in the old spot strangely so it did trigger the CEL. This is coupled with an AWE track edition cat back that eliminates one resonator and the muffler. All that’s left is the high flow cat and a main bulky resonator.
Sounds significantly better/much louder but the drone doesnt really hit until about 70mph.

I like louder exhausts sounds, especially on turbo cars. But man, for my daily, I love the peace and quiet of the stock exhaust. My C30 was kind of tiring day-to-day.

I used to daily a straight piped Nissan Cube. The wagon is pretty tame as far as drone goes at highway speed. It's there but my ears arent bleeding after an hour.

Lluckily it's not my "daily", I have a company car for use Mon-Fri. The wagon just sees weekend use/road trips/trips to the shops.

The CTS Turbo downpipe is like 500 bucks and sounds real good on the 2.0s, even with a stock catback.

Eh, I’ve followed the forums long enough to know I won’t give money to CTS for their products. I’d look at something like Baun if I was willing to actually drop money on it. :)

Which forums? The MQB FB group has about half its members running the CTS pipe. I was gonna go APR but theirs is pricey.

Been following the mqb pages and the forums (golfmk7 and vortex)
and active with them for
the better part of the last 4 years. i’m sure the downpipe they made is fine and will serve you well.
