Made an off-hand remark to dad to put this:

Kinja'd!!!

Into this:

Kinja'd!!!

As in, goofy homemade RWD conversion and all.... And he’s fully on for doing it?

Ofcourse it’ll be into the Folkracer, so it’s being held by the cage in the rear of the car, which looks like it’ll need a big ol’ hole cut in it.

The volvo front subframe is seemingly just bolted to the car by 4 huge bolts with rubber bushings, a single top-mount to support the engine torque load, and the strut towers, all of which seems simple enough to build onto a frame and triangulate into the rear cage. In theory.

That leaves minor things like relocating a fuel tank to the front, converting to no power steering, or electric pumps, or extended lines from the volvo pump, and how to fit a cooling system to the very-cramped-rear of the car.

...but hey, all in the name of sick burnouts, drifts, and good old janky engineer

This sounds like fun. Would 100% do it if I had the time, welding skills, or space. While it would be neat to see something perfect, that might never get done or would probably get really expensive. I would say Roadkill level plus 50% would be a good mark. Something that could probably get plates, but would be better suited to being trailers or driven short distances to autocross days.

Seems like a great project. Will you try to get this road legal?

About the power steering; an electric pump for hydrau lic power steering is easy enough to source . I have one in my restomodded Peugeot 205 as well. The electric pump in my car came from a 106/Saxo.

No, this will never be streetlegal in any way in denmark xD
I’m aware of the 106 electric pumps since i’ve seen those used in kit applications/etc :)

Yeah, if you start obsessing over details you’ll never get anywhere, or atleast that’s what i find to be my major issue with anything. It just needs to be functional and able to hold up, and not super sketch :D

Road legal it won’t be in denmark ever, so trailered to street drags/racetracks/etc

At least put the turbo motor in, not the NA version you posted a pic of!

Not allowed for folkracing sadly, but it’d be a direct fit for an eventual upgrade down the road :P
